Narrowing down to focus on the value inside the square root, we see (1/2)x. The (1/2) is causing a horizontal compression of the graph by 2, thus making the shape more narrow.
When taking the square root of this modification, it causes a stretch vertical. It is vertical since the coeffecient of x is positive.
The addition of 1 shifts the entire graph upwards by 1 unit.
