This one felt odd to me because the denominator we are trying to become already has an extracted value. I thought for a moment perhaps it has something to do with extracting from x + 9 but I paused on exploring at that point. Let us begin with what is A and what is B and what is C.

We want to make the denominator B, equal the denominator C
To do this, we have to find some way to modify B to become C
What we find that can get us from B to C, we will label as D

We want B*D = C

Let us first distribute C so that it is not simplified with the (2-x) extraction/distraction

C = 2x² + 18 - x³ -9x
= -x³ + 2x² - 9x + 18

So, pre-req as always. What we do to B we must do the same to A in order to keep the fraction correct value.
